This picture is pretty explanatory, but in the original Hetalia drawings, there were tons of little lines stitched together. Step 3c: Copy your eye style onto both of the eyes you’ve drawn!. Draw a slight line in the middle of your two rounded vertical lines. DO NOT DRAW A STRAIGHT LINE FOR THE BOTTOM OF THE EYES.
Remember: not every character has the same eye design!! After that, draw two rounded lines to the bottom of the eyes. This “umbrella shape” can vary depending on what your character looks like. You can start to draw the eyes by making a bold umbrella shape for the tops of the eyes. When you’re sketching the face, neck, etc., don’t be afraid to be a little sloppy!! I’m using a drawing tablet, so my lines are a bit better-knit than someone who uses a mouse. I hate having too many layers I feel really unorganized.) (Just a warning: I may use more than one layer to do this sketch, but in the end, I usually merge the layers together for convenience. This part may be a bit longer than the rest of the tutorial, so sorry if the length bothers you!! I’m going to show you how I draw the sketch layer. Make a single line your neck, and use just lines and boxes from the shoulders down! Start out with a circle for the head and an open triangle for the chin. When you make your outline, try not to make it too complex. Make sure to use a color like red, dark blue, or another color that is noticeable under black you will have to draw over this layer! For my example, I will use a shade of red for my outline. Whichever layer you made your outline on, go to that particular layer. Just a warning: when you make layers, you’ll end up with a LOT of them! (In the drawing above ofthe finished drawing, I used almost 10 layers!) If you draw on the wrong layer, it could potentially ruin your drawing completely. When you make layers (this applies to ANY art program!) make sure to label them! This can help when you constantly forget which layer what is on. I have already made an outline and a sketch layer.
